Guide for Aliens Appling for Visas with Initials J-2, G, C and Others

I. Application conditions 
(I) Foreign journalists coming to China for temporary interviews can apply for J-2 visa; 
(II) Aliens who pass through China can apply for G visa; 
(III) Stewards of international trains, international aircraft crew members, seamen of ships of international voyages executing the services on trains, aviation and shipping tasks and their accompanying family members can apply for C visa. 
II. Application procedure 
Aliens shall personally apply to Division of Exit-entry Administration of Shenzhen Public Security Bureau for visas. In particular, the application of aliens for visas with initials G and C can be gone through by the host organizations by proxy. For visas gone through by proxy, the powers of attorney of the aliens or official letters of host organizations and receiving travel agencies shall be provided. The handling authority can require interviewing the applicants if necessary and make inquiries. 
III. Application materials 
(I) Fill completely in Visa and Residence Permit Application Form and attach one recently taken two-inch half-length, bareheaded and full-faced color photo with blue background to the form, and submit Visa Photo Receipt of Aliens in Guangdong Province connected with the Photo Inspection Center of Provincial Office;
(II) Submit valid international travel certificates, including the originals and copies of certificates such as ordinary passports for diplomatic and official purposes; 
(III) Submit Registration Form of Temporary Residence for Visitors issued by the police station at the temporary residence in Shenzhen or by hotels which have been networked with public security organs
(IV) Certificates relating to the application reasons (certificates issued by any organization abroad shall be subject to the authentication of Chinese consulates and embassies in foreign countries): 
1. Foreign journalists coming to China for temporary interviews (apply for J-2 visa): 
can apply for visas with zero-entry, single-entry or two-entry visas and six-month or one-year repetitious visas. There is no limitation for applying times but the maximum cumulative duration of stay in China shall not exceed one year after their entry into China. They shall submit official letters issued by Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or foreign affairs offices of people’s governments of provinces, autonomous regions or municipalities directly under the central government. 
2. Aliens who pass through China (apply for G visa): 
can apply for, but only once, zero-entry or single-entry visa that is valid for up to one month and shall provide valid visas for entering the country or region of destination and tickets to take airplanes, buses and ships. 
3. Stewards of international trains, international aircraft crew members, seamen of ships of international voyages executing services on trains, aviation and shipping tasks and their accompanying family members (apply for C visa): 
can apply for, but only once, zero-entry or single-entry visa that is valid for up to one month and shall provide official letters issued by civil aviation department or traffic department. 
4. People entering Chinese Mainland with tourist visa of Special Zone: 
The application shall not be accepted in principle; people with emergent affairs (rush-repair work, claiming for compensation, signing contract, visiting patients with serious diseases, or attending a funeral) can apply only once for L or F zero-entry visa that is valid for less than one month, and shall provide relevant materials while applying. 
5. People applying for visa with new passports shall provide the following materials in addition to the materials required to be provided according to the regulations of visa application: 
(1) Those who have received new passports after losing the original ones shall also provide relevant passport loss-reporting certificates issued by public security organs; 
(2) Those who have received new passports because the old ones will expire or there is no blank page for visa shall submit their passports held while entering China this time; 
(3) For foreign infants born in China with an independent passport, their birth certificates and the copies of their parents’ passports are required to be submitted; 
(V) Relevant certificates needed to be submitted according to the requirements of public security organs.
Please fill in the application form with black or blue black pen. The copies shall be prepared with A4 paper, and the aforesaid application materials required to be submitted shall be bound in sequence.

(I) According to Article 26 of Law of the People's Republic of China on Control of the Entry and Exit of Aliens: The authorities handling aliens' applications for entry, transit, residence and travel shall have the power to refuse to issue visas and certificates.
